Monaca, PA June 2017 — American Red Cross and Monaca Turner’s is sponsoring their 5th annual Summer Blood Drive on Monday, June 12, 2017. We’re also partnering with Boy Scouts of Beaver County Pack 423, Texas Roadhouse, Dunkin’ Donuts and Farmer’s Insurance on this large community event to help boost area blood supplies. We ask all those Monaca area churches, community businesses and clubs to encourage their members and employees to sign up to donate.
Summer is a historically difficult season to maintain a sufficient blood supply due to vacations, busy schedules and schools being out of session. An unusually difficult allergy season has also impacted our supply going into the summer.
Yet, the American Red Cross must continue to carry its responsibility as the primary blood provider in the Beaver area. Patients and their families count on the good will of volunteer donors to help make sure they can recover from cancer treatment, surgeries and trauma. An hour or so of your time can make a real difference to a family in crisis. We appreciate your willingness to help us in our efforts.
Texas Roadhouse cookout 2-6pm
Ice Cream Treats provided by Farmers Insurance 1-7pm
$5 Dunkin’ Donuts gift card to all presenting donors while supplies last

Special Thanks to Boy Scout Troop and Pack 423 of Beaver County for assistance
How to donate blood
Simply download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) to make an appointment or for more information. Making and keeping your appointment helps avoid long lines. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. Power Red Donors of types O, A neg and B neg are in great need. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are at least 16 years of age (16 needs parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in general good health may be eligible to donate blood.. High school students also have to meet certain height and weight requirements. Parental consent and height and weight requirements are on the website.
It is important to take a few simple steps to prepare and help ensure a good donation experience. Eat a healthy diet rich in iron, get a good night’s sleep the night before, make sure you have a healthy breakfast on the day of the drive and drink plenty of water.
Blood donors can now save time at their next donation by using RapidPass to complete their pre-donation reading and health history questionnaire online, on the day of their donation, prior to arriving at the blood drive. To get started and learn more, visit redcrossblood.org/RapidPass and follow the instructions on the site.
